Serve in India

ENCorps

Enabling NGOs to make a greater difference

ENCorps is a program to mobilize business/other professionals in the US to participate in India's Human Development efforts by volunteering their time and energy to transform nongovernmental organizations (NGO's) to be more effective and efficient.

ENCorps is a facilitated program for professionals who are retired or close to retirement to leverage their experience to work on specific, short-term, operational improvement projects, such as:

  • Accounting/Financial
  • Human Resources Management
  • Information Technology

Resource constraints (people, cost) severely limit them from launching internal projects focused on these areas to transform themselves. Experienced NRI professionals, providing their services pro-bono, can enable this transformation.

The NRI volunteers are expected to fund their own travel/living expenses. AIF will provide training and other support.

Prior to launching the ENCorps program, we are planning a small scale pilot program early in 2007. The pilot would enable us to prove out the concept and gather information from NGO's about their needs. We also expect to gather sufficient experiential data to design a robust program.
