Access To Education Urban Livelihood & Microfinance


Mahila Shram Seva Nyas (MSSN), Madhya Pradesh (2005), ($55,917)
MSSN is a union of women workers in the informal sector committed to developing its member’s socio-economic condition. MSSN, through AIF support, has promoted 40 self-help groups. In the past six months, skills development training programs were organized for 180 stitching workers of Indore, and 90 incense stick rollers of Ujjain. Currently, the stitching workers are earning between $ 23-$ 46 (Rs.1,000- Rs.2,000) per month, but as their stitching speed increases, they would be able to earn up to $ 69-$ 72 (Rs.3,000- Rs.4,000). The incense stick rollers after getting trained are directly linked with incense stick traders, and are earning up to $ 14-$ 20 (Rs.600 – 900) per month.
