Movement for Alternatives and Youth Awareness (MAYA) Organic, Karnataka (2004), ($59,277)
The grant period ended in December 2005. During the grant period, MAYA ORGANIC has been active in 3 sectors: Lacware, Garments and Wood-and Metal Fabrication. More than 375 beneficiaries work in or with 21 group enterprises in these sectors. The group enterprises now independently plan and execute orders, keep systems, and follow and understand quality processes. MAYA ORGANIC collective members have, on average, seen their incomes double after joining MAYA ORGANIC and working with their collectives, and their work has become regular. In addition, MAYA ORGANIC was able to implement a health insurance scheme from which all members benefit.
